  • Worldwide, people from all walks of life are finding creative ways to oppose war and promote peace, justice, and sustainability. Culture—including film, music, and food—is fertile terrain for this struggle. Education that nourishes a critical mind and fortifies the soul is just as essential.

Cultures of Resistance was established to identify and support diverse international initiatives that embody these values. We seek to fortify an international network of activists and agitators, educators and artists, insurgent musicians, vanguard gardeners, gourmands, and guerilla filmmakers.

    • Feature Film
CULTURES OF RESISTANCE the film is a documentary feature directed by Iara Lee. The film highlights the work of artists, musicians, and dancers throughout the world who are working for peace and justice, and are re-conceiving resistance as a fundamentally creative act.

    • CoR Project Areas
Through this website and using the resources of our sister organizations, CoR promotes a variety of grassroots campaigns and organizations. We both draw attention to the ongoing work of organizations that are engaged in long-term campaigns for social change and assist activist efforts to address humanitarian crises as they arise.

Our work falls into four project areas:

Collaborating with innovative and dedicated artists working to unleash the power of the moving image.

Make Music Not War Make Music Not War
Promoting the universal language of music as a cultural bridge.

Make Food Not WarMake Food Not War
